Jury Duty

Willoughby Municipal Court jury trials are scheduled on Fridays. Jurors who are to serve on the jury in Willoughby Municipal Court will receive a summons advising them of the date of jury service and enclosing a questionnaire for each prospective juror to complete and return within two (2) weeks. To determine if a jury trial is scheduled, please call 440-953-4131 after 4:00 p.m. on the Thursday before you are scheduled to serve and you will hear a recorded message as to whether or not you will need to appear for jury duty the next day. Please leave your name at the end of the recording if a jury trial is going forward. The Jury Line is a recorded message only and no one answers that phone. Should you have need to contact the Court by phone please call the Court Administrator at 440-953-4163, the Bailiff at 440-953-4184 or, on Tuesdays only, the Jury Commissioner at 440-953-4182.

On the day of the jury trial please report promptly to the Jury Gathering Room on the first floor of the courthouse by 8:00 a.m. Please be advised that you will be entering through security, do not bring any unnecessary items, food or beverage. Coffee and snacks will be provided.

If you are summoned for jury duty and you are requesting to be excused from jury service you will need to file that request in writing as early as possible, for consideration by the Judge. You may bring your written request in person or mail it along with your completed questionnaire to: Judge Marisa L. Cornachio, Willoughby Municipal Court, 4000 Erie Street, Willoughby, OH 44094. You may also fax the request to 440-953-4149. Requests must be in writing and received prior to your scheduled date to appear. You will be contacted in writing with the Judge's decision on your request. You must appear if you have not received any reply from the Court.
